FAQ – BABYBJÖRN

You can start using Baby Carrier One or Baby Carrier We from newborn (at least 3.5 kg and 53 cm) to around 3 years (max. 15 kg and 100 cm).

Following advice from paediatricians, with whom we collaborate, we recommend that your baby be carried facing inwards in the baby carrier until around five months of age. Before this age, baby’s neck muscles, spine and hips are not sufficiently developed.

You can carry your child in the baby carrier for as long as he or she is content. However, small children should not remain still in the same position for long periods of time. We therefore recommend that you always pay attention to your baby’s signals and vary between using the baby carrier and, for example, a bouncer, pram and crib/cradle.

Yes. All fabrics in our baby carriers are tested and certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1 – the class for babies, which also has the most stringent requirements. The Oeko-Tex label means that the fabrics are free from substances hazardous to health and allergens.

Many babies suck and drool on the baby carrier when they are being carried facing outwards. To avoid having to wash the baby carrier too often, you can use the BABYBJÖRN Bib for Baby Carrier or BABYBJÖRN Bib for Baby Carrier One. They are, of course, also certified in accordance with Oeko-Tex Standard 100, class 1.

You can machine wash all of our baby carriers in warm water (40˚C). Wash separately. Use gentle, non-bleach detergent and do not tumble dry the baby carrier.

Yes. If your baby has temporary stomach problems, it can help to carry your baby in a baby carrier where the baby is in an upright position. It can also be calming for your baby to be carried and to feel the security of being close to mum or dad.

Certainly, it is safe for your baby to sleep in our baby carriers. Your baby experiences closeness and warmth in the baby carrier, which makes him or her fall asleep feeling secure. Our baby carriers provide good support for baby’s back and neck and that is why you can carry your sleeping baby for as long as he/she is content. However, small children should not remain still in the same position for long periods of time. We therefore recommend that you always pay attention to your baby’s signals and vary between using the baby carrier and, for example, a bouncer, pram and crib.

Since the baby carrier’s front section can be removed completely, you can easily lay down your sleeping baby without waking him or her up.

Yes, the baby’s hips, legs and spine are in the same position as when you hold your baby in your arms. According to paediatricians, an upright position that ensures free air passages, free movement for the legs and arms, and good support for the neck and head is the optimal position for a newborn. Our baby carriers meet all of these important orthopaedic requirements for small children.

Our baby carriers are designed to be flexible enough to fit parents of all shapes and sizes, from size S to XL.

Following advice from paediatricians, with whom we collaborate, we recommend that your baby be carried facing inwards in the baby carrier until around five months of age. Before this age, baby’s neck muscles, spine and hips are not sufficiently developed.

Baby Carrier One

BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One has a total of four carrying positions. There are three front carrying positions, as well as a back carrying option. You can use Baby Carrier One from the time your baby is newborn up to approximately age 3.

It’s easy and you quickly learn how to use BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier We. It has minimal buckles and adjustments, and you always carry your child facing inwards. Baby Carrier One is multifunctional and offers a variety of different carrying options. You can carry your child both facing inwards and outwards.

The baby carrier is delivered in the upper height position, which is for newborns. If your baby is taller than 62 cm, you should switch to the lower height level for babies.

  1. Put on the baby carrier over your head, like you would a shirt.
  2. Place the back yoke under the shoulder blade and then attach the waist belt to the back.
  3. Loosen the shoulder strap and unbutton the headrest on both sides, as well as the safety lock on one side.
  4. Place your child in the baby carrier. Once he or she is in place and you have locked the safety lock, buttoned up the headrest and, if applicable, the leg straps, you can adjust the shoulder strap and waist belt (so that it is comfortable for you and your baby).

We recommend that you carry your baby facing inwards until he or she is at least 5 months old. Baby’s neck, back and hips will then be sufficiently developed for you to be able to carry him or her facing outwards. Don’t forget to always use the normal leg position when you are carrying your baby facing outwards.

At this age, most babies think it is fun to get to see the exciting world with their back safely resting against mummy or daddy’s chest.

Once your baby is 12 months old, he or she is big enough to be carried on your back in Baby Carrier One.

  1. First, put the baby carrier on your belly, as usual. Your baby should be facing you and sitting in the wide leg position. Loosen both shoulder straps.
  2. Slip one of your arms up under the shoulder strap and the other arm down under the lower part of the shoulder strap.

The shoulder pad should now form a closed loop around the body.
  3. Get a grip on your baby from underneath and turn him or her around onto your back under your raised arm.
  4. Put the shoulder strap back in place and place the back yoke where it feels comfortable.
  5. Finally, tighten the waist belt and the shoulder strap.

You can use Baby Carrier One from birth (at least 3.5 kg and 53 cm) up to around 3 years (max. 15 kg or 100 cm).

Your newborn should always be carried facing inwards with the normal leg position. In addition, the normal leg position should always be used when carrying your baby facing outwards.

For bigger babies carried facing inwards, you can either use the normal or wide leg position. The wide leg position should always be used when carrying baby on your back.

Switch between the normal and wide leg positions by opening or closing the zip on both sides.

The baby carrier is machine washable in warm water (40°C). Wash separately. Please use an environmentally-friendly and gentle, bleach-free detergent. Do not tumble dry the baby carrier. Please use laundry bags.

There is a handy bib that protects the baby carrier and is easy to wash.

The leg straps should be used when your baby weighs between 3.5 kg and 4.5 kg. Fasten the loops on the vest onto the large buttons at the front of the baby carrier.

For newborns, you should use the upper height position for the first few months. Once your child is 62 cm long (around 4 months), you can easily change to the lower height position by using the zip.

The head support should be used until the child’s neck muscles are strong enough to hold the head up properly.

Baby Carrier We

It’s easy and you quickly learn how to use BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier We. It has minimal buckles and adjustments, and you always carry your child facing inwards. Baby Carrier One is multifunctional and offers a variety of different carrying options. You can carry your child both facing inwards and outwards.

BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier We gives you three options for carrying your child. There are two front carrying positions, as well as a back carrying option. You always carry your child facing inwards. You can use Baby Carrier We from the time your baby is newborn up to approximately age 3.

You can start carrying your baby as soon as he or she is born, provided that he or she weighs at least 3.5 kg and is 53 cm tall. All of our baby carriers have been developed in close collaboration with prominent paediatricians. The substantial head and neck support enables the infant’s head to be held in a stable position, and the ergonomically-designed baby carrier provides the right support for the hips and spine of growing babies.

We want our assortment of baby carriers to meet all of the needs and preferences of parents. Baby Carrier We has been designed for parents who only want to carry their children facing inwards, either on their belly or on their back.

You can use Baby Carrier We from birth (provided that the baby weighs at least 3.5 kg) until he or she is around 3 years and weighs no more than 15 kg.

  • Start by putting Baby Carrier We on as usual, with your baby on your belly facing inwards toward you.
  • Loosen both shoulder straps. Move one arm (the right one if you are right handed) up under the shoulder strap so that the shoulder strap is under your arm. Move the left arm down and in under the left shoulder strap so that the shoulder strap forms a “loop” around your upper body.
  • Hold on to the baby and lift him or her carefully under your raised right arm and into the right position on your back. Raise the right shoulder strap into the right position. Pull the left shoulder strap too and ensure that the straps have not become entangled.
  • Put the back buckle where it feels comfortable by adjusting it both horizontally and vertically. Tighten the waist belt and shoulder straps if needed.

Adjust the headrest by tightening or loosening the short headrest straps on the upper side of the baby carrier, next to the headrest buckles. Make sure that there is enough space around baby’s head so that he or she can get enough air.

You can put on the leg straps when your baby is a newborn and weighs between 3.5 kg and 4.5 kg

In the beginning, your baby may need a little time to get used to being in the baby carrier, so we recommend starting with shorter periods of time. Small children should not remain still in the same position for long periods of time either, so it is important that you always pay attention to your baby’s signals and vary between using the baby carrier and, for example, a bouncer, pram and crib when he or she is no longer content. All BABYBJÖRN baby carriers allow your baby to move his/her arms and legs freely, and that makes them happy to be in the carrier

Yes, it is fine to let your baby sleep in the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier We. Your baby experiences closeness and warmth by being close to your body in the baby carrier and can listen to the soothing sound of your heartbeat, just like in the womb. Small children should not, however, remain in the same position for long periods of time. That is why we recommend that you pay attention to your baby’s signals and switch between using the bouncer and, for example, a baby carrier, pram or crib.
