FAQ – Ergobaby

Can I use the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier with my newborn baby?

The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier can be used with your newborn meeting the minimum weight and height requirements, in the front carry position facing you. Your newborn baby must weigh 3.2kg minimum and be at least 50.8cm tall.

Do I need to use the Ergobaby Infant Insert with the Omni 360 baby carrier?

The Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier has been specifically designed so you can carry your newborn baby (minimum 3.2kg) without the need of an Infant Insert. Easy to use, the Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier’s bucket seat gradually adjusts to your growing baby from newborn to toddler (3.2-20kg) to support your baby in an ergonomic M-shape position at all ages. Please refer to the label on the waistbelt or instructions to adjust the seat based on your baby’s height.

How do I adjust the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier seat to my baby’s size?

The Ergobaby Omni 360 carrier adapts to your growing baby in just one step. Adjust the seat using the velcro tabs on the waistbelt based on your baby’s height: along the red lines for a baby between 50.8-61cm (~0-3 months), along the yellow lines for a baby between 61-71cm (~3-9 months), along the blue lines for a baby over 71cm (~9 months +).

How do I open the front buckles on the Ergobaby Omni 360 baby carrier?

At Ergobaby, safety is always a top priority. Given the construction of this particular carrier, Ergobaby used double locking buckles to ensure a toddler baby could not accidentally open the buckle while seated facing out in the carrier. Just squeeze the 2 sides like with a regular buckle, and lift the central tab at the same time.

As a parent, how do I decide: what is better for my child, facing in or facing out? And how can I know?

Parents form tight bonds with their children. Parents know their children and their children’s moods and as a result, are in the best position to decide the optimal way to wear their children based on various factors, such as the situation, the child’s mood and the estimated carrying time. Our Four Position 360 Carrier gives parents the option of making this decision based on their own individual needs as well as those of their child. The easy-to-use carrier allows for quickly changing between the different positions when circumstances and situations change.

At what age can I carry my baby in the back carry position?

Each parent and child is different but usually around 6 months your baby will be ready to be carried on the back and parents are comfortable not having their baby in direct line of sight. Baby must have strong head and neck control and be comfortably seated consistently in the carrier in an ergonomic, frog-leg position with knees even to hips.

Can I use my carrier if I am pregnant?

Many women have safely used the Ergobaby carrier throughout their pregnancy. However, this is very much an individual preference and Ergobaby recommend you consult your health care practitioner if you choose to continue to carry your child beyond your fifth month of pregnancy.

Can I breastfeed with teh Omni 360 Carrier? How does it work?

Yes, as with all Ergobaby carriers you can breastfeed while on the go. This can be done in either the hip or front-inward carry positions. Just loosen a bit and the shoulder straps and slightly lower the waist-belt to position baby on your breast. Always stay vigiliant while baby is breast feeding. Make sure to reposition baby the correct position immediately after breastfeeding and be careful to not overtighten the carrier.
